This frazada was handmade by artisans in the Andean highlands surrounding Chinchero Peru. Traditional frazadas like this one are colored with natural plant dyes and are woven in the Sacred Valley of Cusco, over the course of 1-3 months, on a backstrap loom. They are made in 2 narrow panels that are then stitched together to form the frazada. All natural, made with sheep's and alpaca wool, they are thick and made for warmth and durability in order to protect from the chill of the Andes.
Each one is unique and reflective of its maker/weaver. This is a light to medium weighted one with a very soft feel to its texture. The tones of grey, pinks, orange and ivory are soft and feminine. Would be perfect for a nursery. Each side is different: One side is deeper toned and the other is softer and airier-- for 2 looks. All trimmed in a beautiful ivory stitching.
Measures approximately 61 inches x 55 inches
As with all handmade vintage items, there are sometimes "imperfections". These are what make them special, beautiful and real. Truly one of a kind.
Care Instructions:
- Dry cleaning is recommended.
- Overall, frazadas are hardy and need little care.
